Nationals of the following countries are eligible for an eVisa when they meet relevant criteria: Armenia*, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia*, Dominica, Ecuador, Haiti, Kazakhstan*, Kuwait, Mauritius, Montenegro, Oman, Panama, Peru, Qatar, Russia*, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye*, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan*.

• Colombian nationals must provide a valid visa or resident certificate issued by a Schengen country, or a valid resident certificate or visa valid for more than 180 days issued by the United States.
• For the period March 31, 2026, through March 31, 2027, nationals of Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan must provide a valid visa or resident certificate issued by a Schengen country, or a valid resident certificate or visa valid for more than 180 days issued by the United States.
• Nationals of Armenia, Colombia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan who have been invited to visit Taiwan by a Taiwan (ROC) central government agency or to attend an international conference or event organized, coorganized, or sponsored by such an agency may apply for an eVisa. In such instances, the individuals do not have to provide a valid visa or resident certificate issued by a Schengen country, or a valid resident certificate or visa valid for more than 180 days issued by the United States. The concerned agency needs to apply with the Bureau of Consular Affairs for an Ecode for the individual concerned.
• Russia: Only holders of ordinary passports are eligible for an eVisa, effective from July 7, 2026, to July 6, 2027.
• Türkiye: Only holders of ordinary passports and special passports are eligible for an eVisa. Eligibility will be adjusted on a rolling basis in accordance with bilateral agreements and the principle of reciprocity.
• Please note that currently only MasterCard, Visa, and JCB credit cards are accepted and that cash payments are not allowed.

Furthermore, nationals from foreign countries who have been invited to visit Taiwan by a Taiwan (ROC) central government agency or to attend an international conference or event organized, coorganized, or sponsored by such an agency may apply for an eVisa. In such instances, the concerned agency needs to apply with the Bureau of Consular Affairs for an Ecode for the individual concerned. Democratic People’s Republic of Korea nationals are only eligible for an eVisa if they are participating in sporting events in Taiwan.

In accordance with the Project for Simplifying Visa Regulations for High-end Group Tourists from Southeast Asian Countries, group tourists from India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam visiting with travel agencies designated by the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, are eligible for an eVisa.

Nationals of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka visiting for business purposes at the recommendation of overseas offices of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council are eligible for an eVisa.

Foreign nationals who intend to travel to Taiwan but are not eligible for an eVisa must fill in a form under General Visa Applications on the website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs and submit this application form to a Taiwan (ROC) overseas mission.

The eVisa program is only applicable to the holders of ordinary, official, or diplomatic passports that are valid for at least six months from the date of applying for an eVisa. It is not applicable to the holders of emergency, temporary, or other unofficial passports or other travel documents.

To obtain an eVisa, applicants must submit relevant personal information and pay the required fee by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) online. Taiwan (ROC) overseas missions may, depending on the applicant’s nationality and purpose of visit, request through email that the applicant submit additional documents within a specific timeframe. If these documents are not submitted by the given deadline, the application may be denied.

When an eVisa application has been approved, the applicant will receive a notice by email containing a webpage link to download and print the eVisa. The eVisa holder is required to present a paper copy of the eVisa at the immigration checkpoint for verification by the National Immigration Agency upon arrival in Taiwan. However, immigration officers at ports of entry in Taiwan have the right to deny entry to eVisa holders without providing further explanation.

Please note that eVisas are only granted for tourism and business purposes, as well as for visiting relatives and attending international conferences or sporting events in Taiwan. If you intend to travel to Taiwan for other purposes – such as employment, study, residence with family, or Mandarin language courses – you must submit an application for a suitable type of visa at a Taiwan (ROC) overseas mission.

The validity of an eVisa is three months starting from the issue date. The eVisa is a single-entry visa, and the maximum duration of stay in Taiwan is 30 days, which cannot be extended and converted to other types of visas.
